In 2009 FEMA recognized ACS-DR as one of the top volunteer organizations responding to disaster in the country and we pledged to be there any time major disasters strike. We offer expertise in donation management.  Currently we have donation warehouses operating in Joplin, MO and Patterson, NJ.  In the past year here in Ohio, we have operated warehouses after the Toledo and Athens tornadoes and the Mansfield flooding. But we need more trained volunteers to help carry the load.

Introduction to Disaster Preparedness

As we consider Christ’s ministry, we realize that it must also be our mission to care for those around us. A part of caring for others is preparedness. Introduction to Disaster Preparedness will teach you how to prepare to survive a disaster whether large or small. You will also learn how you, your family, and your church can help community following a disaster.

This class is intended for everyone, not just those wishing to serve in Adventist Community Services Disaster Response (ACS DR). It is important to prepare to survive a disaster before the evacuation order is given.

Donations Operations

This course is designed to provide the volunteer with a basic understanding of the work of ACS DR. It will familiarize you with the operations of a community collection center, a multi-agency warehouse, and emergency distribution operations including collecting, sorting, storing, transporting, inventory management, and distribution. Following successful completion of this course, all volunteers are eligible to volunteer in any ACS DR donation management operation, under the direction of ACS DR leadership who coordinate staffing at each site

 Be inspired by presentations focusing on the “acts” of the Holy Spirit expanding the mission of the church around the world.  Hear guest presentations by Elder Ted N. C. Wilson, President, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists; Rebekah Liu, Ph.D. (ABD), pastor in 400-church district, Sichuan Province, Southwest China; and Dr. Ganoune Diopp, Director, Global Mission Study Centers of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.  Enjoy a special musical concert by the guest: Kettering Praise Orchestra under the direction of Donald Huff.  Children and youth will be blessed by age-appropriate programs with guest presenters, musicians and other features.   

The Ohio Conference invites you to this national gathering of Adventists at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington, Ohio on October 22, 2011 from 9:30am to 5:00pm.  Celebrate the acts of the Holy Spirit in Ohio – past, present, and future.  2011 also marks 150 years since the Ohio Conference was organized.

We have not to reconcile God to us, but–O wondrous love!–God in Christ is "reconciling the world unto Himself." 2 Corinthians 5:19. He is wooing by His tender love the hearts of His erring children. No earthly parent could be as patient with the faults and mistakes of his children, as is God with those He seeks to save. No one could plead more tenderly with the transgressor. No human lips ever poured out more tender entreaties to the wanderer than does He. All His promises, His warnings, are but the breathing of unutterable love.

When Satan comes to tell you that you are a great sinner, look up to your Redeemer and talk of His merits. That which will help you is to look to His light. Acknowledge your sin, but tell the enemy that "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" and that you may be saved by His matchless love. 1 Timothy 1:15.
